Guava BBQ Wings

8 Servings
1 Hour
INGREDIENTS
For the Wings:
• 12 bone-in chicken wings
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tsp chili powder
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp black pepper
• 1/2 tsp onion powder
• olive oil
For the Guava BBQ Sauce:
• 1/4 cup guava paste
• 1/2 cup Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce (or your favorite BBQ sauce)
• 1 tsp chili powder
• 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
• 1 Tbsp orange juice
Garnish:
• Chili flakes (optional)
• Fresh cilantro, chopped
1. Prepare the Wings:
• Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
• Pat the wings dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
• In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and onion powder.
• Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the wings. Rub some olive oil on the wings as well.
2. Bake the Wings:
• Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the seasoned wings in a single layer.
• Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, untouched, until crispy and cooked through.
3. Make the Guava BBQ Sauce:
• While the wings bake, combine guava paste, BBQ sauce, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and orange juice in a small saucepan.
• Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the guava paste melts and the sauce is smooth. Keep the heat low to avoid burning.
4. Coat the Wings:
• Once the wings are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the warm guava BBQ sauce over the wings and toss to coat evenly.
5. Garnish and Serve:
• Arrange the wings on a platter. Garnish with chili flakes for extra heat and chopped cilantro for a fresh finish.
• Serve immediately and enjoy!
