We Have Steak at Home
Ever dream of recreating that perfect steakhouse sear at home? You know, the kind with a dark, crackly crust and a tender, juicy inside? Well, guess what? It's totally achievable, even if you're not a seasoned chef. This guide will walk you through the simple steps to transforming a bone-in ribeye into a steak dinner at home!
For this recipe I am using a bone-in rib steak. I am sure this recipe can work for other cuts of meat, however, for the best result, please use the same cut.
Choose your best sides to accompany this juicy steak with. I totally recommend the typical loaded baked potato and some corn. I enjoyed mine with Arroz con Gandules. Anything goes here!
Perfectly Seared Steak

1-2 Servings
40 minutes
INGREDIENTS
salt (to taste)
black pepper (to taste & freshly cracked if possible)
1 tbsp. coconut oil
2 tbsp. butter
3 cloves of garlic
bone-in ribeye steak
STEPS:
1. Prep the Steak:
• Bring the steak to room temperature (about 30 minutes).
• Pat dry with paper towels and season generously with kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper on both sides.
2. Heat the Pan:
• Use a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan.
• Heat the pan over medium-high heat until very hot.
• Add 1-2 tablespoons of a high smoke-point oil (like avocado oil or coconut oil).
3. Sear the Steak:
• Place the steak in the pan and press gently for good contact.
• Sear for 2-3 minutes per side until a golden-brown crust forms.
• Add a knob of butter and crushed garlic cloves in the last minute and baste the steak with the melted butter.
4. Rest:
• Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing or serving. Resting keeps it juicy.
And there you have it – a perfectly seared, bone-in ribeye that's sure to impress. With just a few simple techniques, you can transform a humble cut of meat into a restaurant-worthy dish. Now all that's left is to plate it up and enjoy!
